Originating in South America the use of Dream Herb goes back into history. It has been used by the Chontal Indians for oneiromancy (divination by dreams). Research into this plant has shown that compared to diazepam the extract of dream herb increase the frequency and recollection of dreams. Chontal medicine men call the plant Thel-Pela-Kano (leaf of god). Traditionally the dried leaves are smoked, made into a tea or placed under the pillow at bedtime when one has a question for the god. The answer to the question is said to come in the form of a dream.

The traditional way of preparing Dream herb is to crush the dried leaf and make a tea from it. We have seen reports of dosages ranging from 500mg-12.5 grams. The brewed tea would be taken about half an hour before bedtime. At the same time a joint of Dream Herb would be smoked. The Chontal medicine men claim that a handful of the herb is a sufficient dose and that they know when they have taken enough because a sense of tranquillity and drowsiness comes over him.
